The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 12.1
jAlbum is a handy application that helps you create online photo and video albums. Your creations can be easily shared with the large audience by uploading the projects to jalbum.net or to whatever website you prefer.
The program comes with an elegant and user-friendly interface. To make the album designing process easier to carry out, the tool displays useful written tips that appear on the upper bar of the working area. These messages inform you about the logical steps to follow until the photo album is completed. If by any chance you encounter problems in working with the program, an online comprehensive Help is always there to provide you with explanatory tutorials and manuals.

Creating original photo albums with this particular software program is an easy thing to do. You just load the pictures, select the desired template, do some edits, and save your project. Next, you can make your creation public by uploading it to the Web. The utility encloses 8 different album themes, a number which is rather small. Still, you can import at any moment other skins created by the same developer. The existing templates support more or less thorough changes, so that you can customize their appearance to meet your needs.

jAlbum also works as a basic image editor. This way, you are able to make ordinary adjustments, such as rotating, flipping, or cropping the pictures. In addition, you can straighten their position on the screen, as well as change the photo order easily by using the drag-and-drop method. Furthermore, you have the ability to fix lighting issues, add a series of special effects, and make use of the watermarking function to put a personal mark on the project. The same editing options are also available when creating video albums. Once your project reaches the final design, you can save it into your computer and preview it in full screen mode. Next, you can continue editing your photo/video gallery, or you can upload it to the Web instantly.

So, if you are a looking for a simple and easy solution for making your photo and video galleries public online, then you can consider jAlbum a good choice. It automatically rescales the images to meet the recommended Web size, and it supports password protection, so that the albums can be viewed only by those visitors knowing the code.

Pros

  • Easy-to-use app.
  • Modern and intuitive interface.
  • Provides you with text-based useful tips.
  • Automatically rescales images to web size.
  • Creates both photo and video albums.
  • Uploads albums instantly to the Web.
  • Supports drag and drop.

Cons

  • Provides few album templates by default.
  • Doesn't provide advanced photo and editing functions.
  • The Help option is available only with an Internet connection.
